I have a '91 pickup that I did a 3.4 swap on about 40,000 miles ago. A new Luk clutch was installed during the swap. I've noticed every now and then that when I really get on the throttle that the clutch will slip. If I climb under the pickup and push the clutch fork toward the slave cylinder and compress the rod into the slave cylinder and then try again the issue goes away. I figured the slave cylinder was toast so I swapped it out, flushed new fluid through the master cylinder and lines. About a month later the clutch started to slip again. If I perform the same "fix" the clutch will fully engage again. Any ideas on what may be causing the slave cylinder to not fully release the pressure off the clutch fork? Thanks.

Throw out bearing not moving freely on the shaft?

Maybe take some Emory cloth to the shaft?

Well crap. I was hoping that the fix wouldn't involve having to pull the tranny. Thanks for the info. Seeing it only does it a few times a year I'll probably just have to live with it until I can change the clutch out again and clean everything up. There's probably no point in removing the tranny and keeping the same clutch in it.

I have another test that i'd like to perform to see if it's in the hydraulic side or in the bell housing. If it starts slipping and I climb under and hold the clutch fork in the same position and then force the rod back into the slave cylinder and the issue goes away again then I would think that it would lean towards an issue in the Hydraulic side. If it still slips then it would lean towards it being something in the bell housing causing the issue. Does that sound like a valid test? Thanks.
