clutch master cylinder
ok, so thank god for wireless, i just left work and got 3 minutes down the road and I cant get the gears in my truck to engage, so wile the tow truck is on the way i will see if i can get an answer.
i am sitting in home depots parking lot and able to get online, at least in this day in age you break down you can still look at porn...woo hoo
Ok symptoms....sometimes i can get the clutch in and out of gear, sometimes
i cant get it in at all, and some times when i am coming to a stop with the clutch in, and foot on the break, the truck is still engaged and wants to move.
I looked at the master and i can wiggle it and it moves and there is fluid coming out of the bottom of it. bad obviously, so it seems as though there is a small enough leak to allow me to engage the clutch periodically but then gets either stuck in or out of gear at random point, like the leak is small enough to let one or the other happen but when clutch pedal is engaged all the way the master bleeds out and wont the the tranny fucntion.
Will the master act like this or do i have some other problem

Sounds like the master to me, easy ten minute fix. is the reservoir low?
You can top it off and pump the clutch about 20 times and it should give you enough to get home

My slave went first then a month later the master went out. Being the master went out first on yours I would spend the extra 10 to 15 bucks and just replace the slave while your at it. Just my .02

Makes sense. I would have bought the ish and done it in the parking lot, but there was no place to get the parts. Both the slave and master take two bolts to get off and the lines, the viola money shot. I will get the parts tomorrow and see if we can fix it. Thanks for the help guys.
Al - sorry for the reminder but your avitar is to cute. makes me want to cry everytime I look at it.

my susuzki sidekick had a problem with eating through clutch cables and clutch pedal brackets. Often I was stranded 40+ miles away from home, and I had to have my dad help bring me either a new cable or help me drive it home.
His trick was to do what speed shifters do. Rev the engine to a certain RPM and try and force the stick into gear. If you're able to match the RPMS correctly, the stick should just slide gently into place.
Previous owner of my truck said he had to do something similar. The bolts around the bell housing came lose and he lost use of his clutch pedal. He had to force it into gear to get it home using this same technique.
Granted, this only works in any gear other than first and reverse, so be careful not to make any stops.

I have had my tranny bolts fall out and shifting definately a bastard, i just got that exact problem solve, bolt through the block and tranny with a hardened nut ;o) and a lock washer, solved.
I had to make about 27 stops so going 40 feet and getting the rpms to 2500 shifting, then stoping would be rediculous, and i have to go through town where it is all BMW's and Benzo's and Lexi's, I would stick out like a brown eye with a DARK TAN ring around it for sure.
I got her towed, and we will hit it up first thing in the morning.

I just did the clutch about 8 months ago, I hope its not f-ed up. But the master does have a pool of clutch fluid directly under it on the fender well. So that, along with the resevior loosing an inch of fluid a day, has to be it you'd think. We start here in about 3 hours so I will provide an update once we get er rollin.

Ok so started at 12pm, it is now 1:40, got the old master and slave off, new master installed and hooked to the pedal, which was a hell of a task, because the pedal connection for the new master wouldnt fit through the fire wall, had to unscrew it, pin it to the pedal, compress the plunger, and hope I could line it up right. Got that all done, and took the 13mm off the slave and it is off, however i think i found another leak in the line going to the slave. So hopefully this will explain why I had to push the clutch down to the concrete to get it to work. Eating lunch and then putting fluid in it and pumping it til it bleeds.
