Clutch & Idle
I recently bought a 91 extended cab 5 speed 4x4 pickup. the 22r blew and was replaced with a 22re. When idleing it will got from 300 - 1500... When i let my dad drive it (he had one that was not 4x4) he stalled it about 5 times and said that something is wrong, on his it only needed to be at about 1000 rpm. mine i have to take to about 2200 rpm. that dont seem normal.

Sounds like you are describing an unsteady idle, start with the Throttle Position Sensor:

I'm confused with the 22r and 22re thing. Was your truck fuel injected before the engine blew? If so, it was a 22re, not a 22r. 22R's are very hard to find, mostly non-existant in North America after 1988.
