Cleaned intake and throttle body now poor gas mileage
just cleaned and dregreased intake plenum and throttle body and assembled everything correctly with new gaskets and everything. just replaced the fuel pulse dampener... ugh P.I.A.! but i got to clean everything out really well!!!
anyways i am getting terrible gas mileage and it smells like unburnt fuel in the exhaust... i have a leak somewhere but i can find it...
i have the toyota manuals and followed them step by step.
is there somthing i have to do to the throttle body? i already adjusted the idle cause it was a little high after the cleaning... i have gone 100 miles and i am already at half a tank... it used to be at least 125-140 miles on half. any suggestions would be great...
engine is 3vz btw...
thanks

the 02 sensor is pretty new... do you think if i lean out the VAFM that it will help any? i am going to try it today and see what happens... let me know if anyone thinks of anything else!

My understanding is if you don't remove the TPS it can be harmed by the cleaning fluid.
I would not touch the VAFM, since it worked before you touched the throttle body.

if you dont remove it, yes it can be damaged
if you do remove it, you have to be certain you adjust it right when you reinstall it

pull the efi fuse or battery for a minute or two so the ECU will start with clean fuel trim maps... or wait for 10-20 full start/stop/re-start cycles for the ECU to adjust the trim maps to the new setup. definitely check the timing and idle speed as well as the TPS adjustment / performance.
However it could be the cleaning has fouled the O2 sensor and it is reading abnormally.

If you worked on the intake it could also be that the cold start injector has stuck open and is running gas in when it shouldn't be. But I'd take ABE's advice first.
