Check engine light won't flash with TE1 and E1 jumpered
I am trying to figure out why my Check engine light will not flash. When I turn the car to the on position, engine off, the check engine light comes on as normal. When I run the car, it stays on, so I assumed it should throw some codes when I jumper the TE1 to E1 connectors on the diagnostic panel. When I do it, the overdrive light starts flashing quickly, but the check engine light stays on solid. If I weren't throwing any codes I know it should flash about every second or so consistently, but it just stays on. Any idea how to get this working properly so I can diagnose the codes?

Sounds like you have a transmission code. The OD light should blink when you short TE1 to E1 if the tranny is throwing a code. Count the flashes (should be a pattern of 4 or 6, followed by a pattern of 1 to 5, and then the cycle repeats.)
I don't know if the CEL should stay on under those circumstances. I don't have an automatic, so am not so familiar with that part.
