how many quarts are required for the manual transmissions?
(old thread, I know, but still need more information.)
-edit-
Found another good post with this info. 1 quart in the transfer case and 3 in the transmission?

I just did my transfer case today along with my diff's, and transmission fluid. I used about 1.1 ish Litres of 75w-90 AGL synthetic.
After you fill her with new oil, take her out and cycle through all your 4WD settings on a dirt road to get everything nice and soaked inside the transfer. Myne was shifting very very smooth after new oil.
make sure you take the filler plug off before the drain as a rule of thumb...hehehehh OR ELSE !!

I had to fix a broken shifter and why not change fluid? I thought that I might be able fill through the case shifter. Drained the case With the fill plug removed i added the appropriate amount of fluid with none coming out the fill hole. Now the shifter port is full with fluid. <bangs forhead>.
i opened the trans fill port and it is as it is supposed to be.
So what cavity did the 2 to 3 quarts fill? Scratching my head. There is a puddle up to the top.
ooops.

Still no evidence as to where the fluid has gone. I drove the truck today and will again tomorrow. I will pull both the trans and case fill plugs to see if the extra fluid is making it's way into those areas and thus over filling them.

Still no idea where the fluid went.
I drained the case and filled it with fresh fluid. As stated above, I pulled the fill plug for the trans and the case, neither was overfilled after adding 3 qts to shifter port.
No leaks or strange-ness driving it. Bizarre.
