Can i salvage this 22re timing cover or get a new one?


Timing cover

How bad is this damage by the inside of where the oil pump bolts on?

Managed to catch this before it got worse but should I still replace it?

That was one loose chain.
If it were me, I'd get a new Aisin timing cover. A quick look shows they're going for about $130.

Agree. Worth the expense. Amazing how parts are so easily available for our classics.

You don't even show the outside of the cover where the oil pump bolts up.
Sometimes there is scoring where the oil pump gears turn against the cover, and this scoring alone can make a cover into scrap.
