o man, prerunnin is my dream.. the first time i ever heard a trophy truck hammerin across the desert i knew thats what i want to do one day. but ya iv spent alot of time thinking about building one.. but where i live its not really a grand idea.. no desert any where close lol so it will have to wait, but as for the motor.. it depends on how much you wanna fab.. i guess i would stay away from a chev motor.. unless it was newer.. but its a PITA to make clearance for a distributor without a body lift, and from what i found when i was building my 91, i would have had to pull the motor to replace the distributor cap lol so i axed that idea.. with a bit more thinking i was looking more at like a 302 ford motor, with some kind of forced induction... but a 1uz would be sick
just when you build the motor, remember what your bulding it for. i have seen some of my friends want to build a nasty truck motor and instead build drag motor and wonder why it wont preform down low... prerunner motors have to have gobs of power and be able to run wide open for hours (if your going to be racing) so a wicked high reving smaller displacement v8 with a insane cooling system is what id want

I've actually started to stray away from the chevy idea (especially after starting this thread and reading engine swap threads).
I was thinking of something smaller, V8 of course. So whatever I can find on craigslist that I can rebuild with my free time is what I'll go with. I've been seeing a few buick engines recommended for something like this.

Another good place to learn from is TTORA's desert tech http://ttora.com/forum
