I saw this thread without a reply, so I thought I would chime in FWIW.
Seeing as how you're a dad of 2, just buy a minivan and get it over with.

But seriously, since you don't have the time for projects like a motor swap and the fact that you hate the 3.0, I would liquidate everything for a reliable, safe daily driver. I'm not a big chevy fan, but I have driven my fair share of them, and all in all they aren't bad. It would be hard to say no to getting a truck AND cash, provided the truck is in decent condition, and is more or less ready to drive.
That's just my worthless opinion though, you should do whatever you think is the best move.
