Trick is to lift the rear up and adjust them while its up, you wanna adjust them so they tighten (push the adjuster up iirc) and then check every few clicks for how far the wheels rotate when you give them a good turn. It should rotate then stop after about half a revolution or so.

Not sure I understand what you mean. The rear of the truck is up, I had to lift it to get the wheels off. I have been turning the gear up for a while and the drum doesn't seem to want to turn at all. Like I'm going the wrong way. But I can't get the tool to catch to turn it down, as the grooves are slanted. I'm thinking about taking the whole assembly off via the four bolts holding it on. This is a pain in the ass.....

So its not moving? Its probably stuck, spray it with PB blaster. If that doesnt work remove the drum and see if you can move it.

If you can get the drum off use to 13mm metric threaded bolts to push the drum off and be carefull.

Sprayed with PB and still won't budge. I also noticed that the other bolt hole is stripped out. My original goal is to get the drum off. I'm thinking about bringing someone with a torch over to cut the d*** thing off....

Ended up getting them off and upon installing the brake shoes, one of the pads on the shoe fell off. So now it's back to the parts store to get a replacement. HOPEFULLY I'll be done early tomorrow. But I'm not getting my hopes up.....
