It seems the stock switch setup overheats too easily, burning the switch box and/or nearby wires. I said screw the oem switch and dug out 2 hi-amp switches, mounting them OUTSIDE the dash. Its a 2 speed fan now. So far, no melting but if there is a problem it will be much easier to work on things.
