oh it wont be for a few years unless i just happen upon a few grand..lol..like 5g's....or 6..lmao..i would do all of the mechanical stuff..and have somebody else do the wiring..because it wouldnt be just a simple TBI4.3..it would be one of those with the badass aluminum intake that says VORTEC.(CPI i think???).LOL..atleast im planning on a 4.3
now if i happen to find a 4bt cummins diesel...well..i'll just have to MAKE IT WORK..(weight wise..lol)..because that is my dream motor..and they take WAYYY less wiring to run GREAT!
mmmm..can you guys imagine..pullin those big a$$ hills and switchback's up the rockies..with a 4cyl..not 22R or RE or REC..but 4BT CUMMINS....wow..it would be a breeze...

Good to hear or in this case not hearing...
Although I have grown to like the little ticking of the valves...it's like the yota love song..."Clicking of the Yota Valves"

oh yeah, the idle issue a long while back was a shot timing chain tentioner and an exploded driver's side guide it was throwing the cam and dizzy out of sync with the crank
and I'm sure the gnarly caked-up junk on the valves of the old head with 296k miles on it wasn't helping at all either

Ended up pulling the header completely off and re-seating the gasket against the head. The main leak was from the PAIR tube block-off plates. I had to make some releif cuts on the bottom of them so that they don't interfear with the welds on the header tubes. I also had to install a new clamp at the mufler as the old one for whatever reason losened up I even went as far as installing a new hanger; I think that's the reason that clamp loosened up, because of a bunch or play and movement in the exhaust system.
But now after driving today there's still a slight header leak; just a slight ticking when on the throttle. I'll retighten the bolts tomorrow after work and see if that stops it though worked for the dang head gasket coolant leak, why wont it work for an exhaust leak, lol
oh also, the CEL's on now... code 21... and I just replaced the O2 sencor about 2 years back... damn Bosch, I knew I shoulda went Denso

X2 on Dyno, but only AFTER about 3K miles....
BTW do you have an adjustable cam gear? If not how did you advance the timing?
Good Work Travis!

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it posted low numbers being this fresh. When I dropped a (stock) rebuilt 22RE in my truck that was apparently fairly tight, the economy was down ~2mpg until it had maybe 3,000-5,000 miles on it. I think I have heard that the LS1 Camaros posted higher numbers after the engine was run for a few thousand miles too.
