Well today, since I get off an hour earlier on Monday's, I decided to knock another little project out
While walking pass the truck after coming home from work, I noticed a little spot on the ground... odd since there's no motor in the truck to leak oil, lol. But then I rememered about my pesky steering gearbox! I had hooked the lines back up last Saturday, and the fluid just ran out of the lower pitman arm shaft seal, lol.
So, I gathered up some tools, and hit the junk yard
$60 later, a little cleaning and painting (of caurse ), and now hopefully I have a NON leaking gearbox, lol
the old one's REAL nice looking, lol. I'm thinking about getting a $20 seal kit and attempting to rebuild and resell it (I smell a writeup )
In the process, I noticed that I definately need to replace my pressure hose too; it'snot going to last too much longer
OH, and as promissed, pics from some wireing repairs from last week
I need to get to that alt wiring harness next
and the tap-in for the AC clutch to the fan controller
I also began to set up for the fan controller, but all I got done was installing the 3 position switch before I got rained out, lol. I hate Florida sometimes...
I use to have my switch for my fog lights there, but I decided to relocat it to a different spot
Oh and the motor? yeah, it's still waiting on that clutch...
I got an email on the alternator shipping, and it should be here in 2-3 days. About all I'll be able to give you guys about it untill the motor fires up is a visual first impression on quality I guess, lol.

lol, I know
spent a little more time this afternoon running and wrapping the wires for the fan controller and rerouting and wrapping the fog light wiring, and I went ahead and mounted the fan control box to the finder under the battery tray
everything's looking pretty clean and almost factory, which is the way I like it

Hey Bleeder, did you ever add a cat to your exhaust system? I like the way your system sounded, but I still have 2 more years of emissions testing, so the cats gotta stay.
I want to head up to Stan's headers just up the road from me and get a full system installed, (he has a coated header for just a little over $300) but I might have to wait it out til next June. The wife is in nursing school and money is tight, but next June she knows I will have a shopping list I might include in her graduation card!!
And I guess I need to remember she hooked me up with my soft top, which by the way is still awesome for anyone in the market.
Sorry for the threadjack, but its not like we have video clips of the installed motor to watch on here.
I just hope you can ween yourself off of driving the "step-pickup" once the yota is finished!

yeah, the GMC Sonoma is getting old... I hate it, but at the same time I'm EXTREMELY happy I can use it, lol
Did more wiring today... yes more... finished up the alt wiring, buttoned up the wiring over by the battery which includes mounting the relay for the fog lights, wrapping the wires for protection, and tieing all the wires up.
Threw the battery in to check my wiring, and I'm not gunna lie, I got goose bumps when I turned the key and heard the ol Toyota BEEEEEEEEEEP that I haven't heard in SOOOO long
But I tested my fog lights, and those work perfect after the re-wire
Then flipped the override switch for the fan, and huston we have a problem... relay no go clicky... Started porobing for power, and my override 12+ has power, the constant 12+ from the battery has power, but my ground must not be too sound I would have fixed it then, but it was getting dark, so I'll mess with it tomorrow and see if we can get some air moving
It sure is easy to get anywhere you need to to move wires when there's no motor in the way, lol

Well, it ended up NOT being a bad ground, but the control box itself was faulty
so I ripped the thing out, took it to the parts store where I got it, and swapped it out for a new one
Wire it all back in, set the battery in, turned the key, flipped the switch, and relay go clicky clicky now, and fan go veeerrroooommmmm!!!
The radiator's just temporarily held in there with one bolt, and that bolt also serves as the ground for the fan
OH, and also, my alternator came in today
took it down to the parts store with me and tested it out on the machine, and it at least puts out voltage, but I can't say much for the claimed 130 amps untill I get is bolted in the truck and it's running, and see if it keeps things charged up with the headlights, fog lights, and fan on
purdy little thing too I might add; fresh clean cast surface, and a silver painted back!

Hey bleeder doe's this header look set up right? Some reason the some thing don't look right to me maybe it's just me but need a second option. Please let me know if I got it wrong so I can fix it before I go any farther and end up tearing it all down over a dumb mistake.
