big choise to make
okay fellas here it tis. ill be gettin about 13grand in probly a mont or so and heres the decision...
first of all im gonna buy me a DD/ yota haluer. i found a 03 2500HD gas chevy for 7500. im pretty interested in it. so that would leave me with about 5500 give or take a few and i cant decide if i want to SAS my truck or jsut build a good capable IFS rig. ive heard a good built IFS rig will just about do as much as a SASd one would. but i dont know if its true. plus i dont think 5500 will be enough to SAS mine and all that good stuff. what would you all do? feel free to criticize and what not. if i keep it ifs, gears lockers armor winch BL etc would be my concern. help a brotha out

im in bristol va next to tn line. no i do very little muddin. i run trails and old loggin road and hit a couple mud puddles here and there. i havnt came across anything on the trails i run to need sas, but it would be nice to have it when needed. and i already have a trailer so i wont have to buy that either

I would be kinda leaning towards getting the gears, lockers, and armor and then do something else with the rest of your money. Those trucks are really capable in that form. Maybe some goodies for the tow rig...

yea im getting 5.29s, lockers front and rear, skid plates, sliders, bumpers, a BL so i can have a little more clearance. igot a partslist wrote up and the grand total is about 4700 bucks

If I were you I would try very hard to find a turbo-diesel tow rig if you can, gas big blocks can be very painful IMO. Diesel will most likely get better mileage as a daily driver, and will definitely get better mileage towing.
I'm wondering if you even "need" a tow rig at all... maybe you should just get a DD car?

yea i would rather have a car for a DD, but then i cant pull my truck. i plan on goin on a wheelin trip this summer and i dont trust my yota to go very far. yes i would love a disesel. i want a duramx with an allison trans reg cab long bed but i cant find one in my budget. i wouldnt mind to have a cummins either

i think im gonna keep it IFS. with the cost of labor to SAS and all the parts needed. i think it would be my best bet. cuz i dont have teh place or know anyone that does to do a SAS

IFS with dual lockers and dual transfer cases, add armour and a winch and its going to be ridiculously capable off road, AND on road (no need for the Chev.

Why not save your money, and get yourself through school. As I can see, you obviously need some language arts classes or just some general grammar.

how bout you just dont worry about it. im fine with the way i talk i got a free ride to college. everyone else understood me. so you can just go a head and chime out mr.websters dictionary. your post helped nothin with my thead.

i really dont want to buy a tow rig, but i want to be able to wheel my yota hard, and not worry about breakin somethin and not bein able to get home

I would stay ifs and beef everything up like you mentioned. But I would ditch the tow rig idea. With the amount of wheeling you do now you really don't need the tow rig. And plus if you plan on doing some extreme wheeling, take the extra $800ish and buy some extra parts that have the best chance of breaking on a trail and the tools to be able to change the part if needed while on the trail.
edit: Just as i left the thread. I though about what I would do with $13,000 and I would 3.4 swap, SAS and armor and gears and lockers. I may spend a few more than the 13,000 but my rig would almost be unstoppable.

but see the thing is, i want a tow rig/DD so i can wheel more, harder without worrying about getting home, and travel different places instead of just around my area, cuz like i said, i dont like to drive my yota far. and plus i dont wanna drop all of it in my yota.. smell what im steppin in?

ok alright well in that case get the tow rig and keep your ifs but invest in lockers heara and armor and I think you'd be set. And if you don't mind me asking how'd you get a free ride to college?
