Well the truck i just bought is a 1994 toyota pickup 4wd with 33 inch trail blazers and a 4 inch suspension lift all the way around. Im running a Brand New 22RE with a Brand New Transmission, and Brand New 411 gears in the front end and the rear end and i get 19 miles to the gallon easy.

uhhh I could be wrong, im not exactly sure. but I believe 4.88s with a 5 speed and 33s and doing 65 in 5th gear keeps your truck right around 2.5k rpms? someone wanna correct me on that? I know 31x10.50s, 4.10s and a 5 speed in 5th gear keeps me at 2.9k rpms

Also helps to make sure the motor is fully tuned and running as perfectly as possible. Make sure EGR is working, the O2 sensor is a Denso direct-fit in good shape, clean the throttle body and run Seafoam if necessary (do this before changing O2 sensor), use stock Denso plugs, dealer cap, rotor and wires, set timing to spec or a couple degrees more advanced, run a bottle of Red Line SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner through the tank - has the most polyether amine of any in-the-tank injector cleaner. Make sure no vac leaks (as some have mentioned) and make sure ECT, TPS and VAFM are all in spec. If you haven't adjusted valves in a while, that should be done.
Running higher pressure in tires will reduce rolling resistance but don't go overboard.

anyone know if I can change my ECU from a CA to Fed without issue so I can loose the 2nd O2 after the cat? also thinking about fitting an elec fan. my shroud broke so thought Id spend $30 more and change the entire fan... my best mpg was 17 but then I had some valve seat issues; not sure what caused it but trying to make sure it doesnt happen again.

You have to jump TE1 to E1 in the check connector, also check that IDL grounds to E2 in the TPS at idle (continuity between the two bottom terminals when throttle plate closed). With jumper set & TPS working, spec is 10 deg btdc, but 12 is a better setting for the 3VZE, overall. It will still burn 87 octane okay. Some run 14 degrees advance, for a little more power, but you're better off burning 89 octane so the computer doesn't retard the timing because of pinging. If you get an emissions test, set the timing back to 10.

i get right around 19-20 to the gallon in my stock 22re, 94 runner, 31" at, 4.56s, however i drive her. seems to get around the same or slightly less highway mileage at above 3000 some rpms. she will do 85 fine and still had more to go. kinda scary to go above that though
i make sure to keep my plugs, wires, and air filter pretty fresh and just recently switched to mobil 1 so hoping to squeeze a little more out her

I have a question... Just filled up and figured out I'm getting 12.25 mpg city and hwy mixed. This is not ok for me... I just had a new rebuilt 3.0 put in. I have about 250 miles on it so far. I have a 4inch lift and 33 inch tires. On other thing I have done is a cherry bomb muffler. Otherwise totally stock. I need to improve this my
By 3 to 4 in the city and I'd like to get 18 to 20 Hwy. Should I add a drop in K&N? Downsize the tires to 31's? Any other suggestions?

On my veezy, which has good compression, is nearly perfectly tuned, has a K&N Filtercharger intake, Borla Turbo muffler and 2.25" cat back, 30x9.5 tires, no lift and a camper shell, only gets 19 highway under ideal conditions. It used to get 24 highway, but with the alcohol they're adding these days it came way down.
So. Reducing tire size probably would buy you a mile or so per gallon, and returning to stock height might help, too. Running on the high side of tire pressure, tuning the motor as nearly perfect as possible will help too. The K&N intake didn't do ANYthing for mileage or power when I installed it in 1996. Nada. I saw a big improvement from the exhaust, tho. Whether the exhaust would have given as big a benefit without first opening up the intake, IDK. I think probably there is almost nothing to gain on the intake side, at least with the stock air meter.
One thing that would help a lot is burning no-ethanol fuel, if you live near a source. This site maintains a list of stations:
