Ball Joint Spacers

Its been a while since I have been around and it seems that BJ spacers are the latest rage. I did a search but was not able to find what I wanted.

Other than a quick easy lift what is the advantage. I alreay have my T-bars loose as can be...25mm bars on a reg cab...even with the ARB bumper it doesnt take much.

I would gain a bit more droop right? I have a 4" and 35's. I have done some trimming (and beating ), and cant really get anymore compression without rubbing, but I would go for another inch of droop. But I wouldn't really want much more lift. So, what I could go with a 1" or a 1/2" inch, get a bit more droop, similar or better ride and get the 1" or 1/2" extra droop.... Do the CV's get too extended, I do beleive my 4" dropped the diff 4" as well...I have yet to see the CV's extend to far...

Is anyone running the BJ spacers with a 4"

I am sure all this is out there, but couldnt find it...

the way the BJ spacers go in they pull the full 1 1/2" on the compression (increase). However if you uncrank your T bars you can switch the space to the droop increase. Thus is because the torsion is on the upper control arm. I installed mine ans I lowered the bars to give me the same up & down. If you have low profile bumpstops you will need to shim them.

I don't have a 4" lift but I hope this helps

Here's an install on a truck with 4" lift. The way I understand it the spacers can either:

1) Give you 1.5 inches of lift with the same ride as stock
2) Give you 1.5 inches of lift plus whatever you can crank up the t bars on top of that
3) Maintain stock ride height while allowing you to lower the tbars below stock therby gaining better articulation (on the droop)

I meant to add that if you already have your t bars relaxed all the way, I'm not sure what you will gain from this other than being back up a bit higher. Could help with the rubbing on compression that you mentioned though as it will move your tire away from the body without changing the position of your UCA.

Hijack:

Anyone notice all of the disclaimers that 4Crawler, and SDORI have on their web sites regarding BJ spacers? What's up with that?

They have to save their own butt if the end user installs improperly or misuses the product.

So has there been some incident surrounding these? Or did some atty tell them that they are at risk since it's a steering component? I wonder...

it is just the way things are these days. If you but a jar of Peanut butter, there is a disclaimer saying it may contain peanuts - really?

The John Denver clause, if your airplane runs out of gas, you will come out of the sky...

I am still seriously thinking about these, just dont want to mess up my CV's at full droop. And mabye I could throw my 2 bottom leaves of my alcans back in, still would be stiff, but I wouldnt ride on the bump stops when carrying camping gear.
