When I said too short, I meant will limit travel. There's a lot that will fit but limit travel.

East Coast is wet and cold. I don't work at Toyota.

It is that time of year...(wet and cold). I really miss the mountains and trails. Don't get me wrong, I think Texas is cool and we have some great wheeling areas but the camping is alittle different. Are any of you guys going to the TTora National Take Over in Paragon this summer? If I can swing the time off I would like to go and I can visit my parents in Carlisle, Pa. too. Not sure if I'll drive or fly. Let me know if you are planning on going, I'd like to meet you. I've enjoyed your posts.

You might have some better luck dealing with ome than cebby did. The specs for the corresponding rancho shock is:

Rear (Rancho 5009)
Compressed: 15.63"
Extended: 26.25"
Travel: 10.63"

So if an ome shock has similar specs it will work. We could even convert the pin mount to an eye mount. Also if an OME shock had a bit more travel, that be even superer Thanks in advance for check this out. When I do buy it, I'll make sure to drive to dallas and buy from you guys

edit: it was suggested as N42 or N55 might work for the rear.

We put stock '96 Cruiser rear shocks on a buddy's '90 Runner, fit great with Cruiser coils, 14.5" x 24". The Cruiser shocks are pin/loop mount and bolt right in on the Runner. I have heard some of the aftermarket shocks are slightly longer, Billy, KYB? The stock Tokico gas shocks ride great on the Runner and are only about $25 ea. with the proper discount from the stealer.

With that in mind the ome shocks for an fj80 rear are n71 for the soft and n74 for the firm

Will the yotatech discount still be good if I just pick the parts up from you guys in dallas. I live in fort worth and it seems silly to ship to here.

Nope, tried Saturday and missed him by 5 min! So far it's been a mall cruiser, we take tons of pictures on the trail, but I think he's scared to get schooled by the Cruisers! It still has a couple of issues, the upper arm hits the gas tank at full droop and it has a minor driveshaft vibration, so the upper arms need to be shortened or the lowers lengthened to correct the pinion angle.

Other than the vibration it rides and drives very nice, much softer than my old '90 with cranked front and Downey HD rear.

After many hours of pouring over all the rancho data I could get my hands on, here it is, the rs 9000 part numbers:

Rancho RS9000 series:

Front: RS9272
Compressed:10.25
Extended:14.5
Travel:4.25

Rear:RS9251
Compressed:16.125
Extended:27
Travel:10.875

Ta-da!

Any thoughts? criticisms? endless praise? I think this is the best option, you can go with ome or bilsteins, but especially for the rear, the shocks that would worked are valved for a heavy vehicle and would give you a really rough ride. I think that's part of the reason those with the 5009s say the ride is rough, because they are made for a 1/2 ton truck, which the 4runner is not.

Got the shocks on. Had to press out the sleeve in the rear and cut the old shock bushing in half in order to make a 1/2" spacer. The fronts fit perfect, but I found a better one according to downey's site. Rancho 9136, more travel. Though I plan on working the front, adding new shock mounts and getting about 10" of travel, thats my goal. Will post pics soon.

check this info I picked up.
Ome 860 = light load
Ome 863 = med. load @ constant 440lbs
Ome 864 = heavy load @ constant 880lbs
shocks: compress open
N74E 370 mm 620 mm
N74L ? 2 in. longer
Thought this might help out...I pick it up while figuring out what lift I wanted to do

With the BJ Spacer, Tbars cranked a bit past stock, 1" BL, Chevy 63" and 1-2" over shackles and some fender well seam flattening will I rub with 35x12.5s on 3.75" backspaced rims? This is on a 88 4runner.

That is basically my setup, except with 33x12.5 i trimmed the front fender some, yet still rub on full compressed turns, I'm going to trim some more this weekend, I have not rubbed in the rear yet

Hmm, maybe I will be forced to go with 33s. That is probably the smarter option, as the IFS dosen't really like a tire that big. I really wish I could go with 35s. Maybe I will, and just take the hit on my turning radius.

ok guys, i recently got 33x12.5's (after a year of having the bj spacers and FJ coils) i recently noticed that my driver's side front tire is rubbing on the sway bar!? is anybody else having this problem? the driver's side has been lower than the passanger side pretty much since i put the bj spacers on. but its only about a half inch if that. think this half inch would cause that rubbing compaired to the passanger side?

and by the way, the reason its been 1/2 lower is because i tried to adjust it back when i put my lift on, but it wasn't goin any higher. so i figured it was because my driver's side was the side that i put the short coil on, but last week (when i noticed the rubbing) was when i swapped out the short side for another long side. and its still off im not sure if its a 1/2 inch or not now.

hahaha so long story short, anybody having this problem?
