The the might not have looked like it did damage because he kept going but I guarantee that IFS was never the same again. If nothing else the upper ball joints were gone for sure.

I used to jump my Taco like that until I sold it of course, never did any damage, drove straight and true!
I was warned many times from people that wheeled with me that they thought for sure the spindles would snap or the front shocks were gonna come up through the hood, wish I had video, I don't dare drive my '93 that way!

I used to jump the hell out of my 1990 4runner 2 summers ago when i got it but have since stopped, after smacking the "tank-like"driver side rear end into a tree. Yeah it was a bummer, but i just ground it down, did some pounding and broke out the airbrush. Have a few scars which remind me of its jumping era but nothing was wrong under the hood, just blew two shocks but nothing bad....very impressive japanese engineering

Lol ill have to dig up some more videos of my truck jumping, we have launched it off some that put it prolly around 14 or 15 feet up in the air. Its a ton of fun just be prepared to change tierods, ball joints, and wheel bearings frequently if you dont want your truck to suffer.

I accidentally jumped my truck once. I was driving on some service roads in the snow with a friend. Drive by these lake service roads all the time (lake is right by my house, I drive by it EVERY TIME I go somewhere), so as I remembered, this stretch was level. I decide to really get my speed up out across this thing, so I'm going about 40mph in the snow and apparently there was a rhythm section right towards the end where it turns back to pavement! Everything was bouncin' around in the cab and we definitely caught air. It hurt real bad though

I have jumped my current and old truck. Both were fine.
BTW, the upper ball joint is not going to break. It's the lower you have to worry about. Truth be told though, you'll spread the rearward a-arm mounts or damage the lower a-arm first.
Those were both cool vids.

When I was living in Barstow, CA at 19 years old my buddy and I jumped a '91 corolla out in the desert. It took off super smooth, and landed pretty well. It was all good until we tried to drop down a steep hill and totally high-centered it. Ahh, memories... I wish I were a rally driver.
