If the shop that installed your cam couldnt even adjust the timing right id be concerned with the rest of their work. Are the valves adjusted properly?

the shop that installed the cam told me to let it go 500 miles with the timing they did to break it in. so i did. i then took it to my personal mechanic, who DID time it. (but forgot to jump e1 and t1 or whatever those terminals r) and its under warranty, so im not too worried bout frying something with it. im not sure how id be goin to ground... ill check the charging today. and the oil pressure gauge has never worked... i think someone who had it before me (im not gonna say any names, alan ) hooked up the gauge without swapping out the sending unit. so yeah, it used to be sitting at the bottom, then when i switched the connector on the unit, the needle moved from the bottom to the middle, then the top. hasnt moved since. lol. ive heard its normal for the voltimeter to be all the way up like that on old toyotas.. true?
oh, and the ebrake isnt on... when i put the handle back in when i switched cabs, i broke the tab to turn the light off... lol. havent bothered to fix it, doesnt bother me much. ill check the oil pressure and the charging system today.
and im pretty sure the valves r adjusted right, they arent making any noise. sounds like a very healthy engine.

I have the error code for you 26...You're going to love this!!! Error code 26 reads, "Air-Fuel Ratio Rich" I believe that is what you started with.

Here is the link to the error codes. http://www.troublecodes.net/Toyota/

I hope this get straightened out soon...Keep on it you'll get it hammered out.

okay, checked the oil today, as i usually do, but havent since i switched to mobil 1. (about a week or so ago). it was 1 quart low! what the hell... lol. its leaking and/or burning oil at only 1400 miles! oil plug is tight, oil filter is tight. any suggs?
im not taking it back to my mechanic until i get the engine paid off, and when i build up cash again to let me afford to drive the expedition. god i am so pissed, 2200 bucks for a rebuild that already leaks and possibly burns oil. GRRR.

yeah, tell me bout it. im never goin to him again for anything. i will be taking it back to him though, and telling him to FIX it, fix the rattle in the bottom of the engine (yeah, sounds like a marble is in there upon rpm drop), fix the oil leak, fix the electrical problem that im having that i didnt have before (hey... sure i had it before, but hes screwing me, i can play that game too) fix the air to fuel mixture, make it run the way its supposed to, or ill see his arse in small claims court, or report him to the people that shut down shops. im pissed, and getting more pissed by the minute.

I thing your right, go after him and make it right. I'm about at a loss here with it running rich. You should not be having these issues on an fresh re-build. And there is no way you should be leaking oil. That sucks!!!

i thought 'hey im using mobil 1 maybe thats why' then i thought 'its a BRAND NEW rebuild it doesnt matter what kind of oil i use'. marbles in the bottom of the block, running rich, 17mpg, and leaking oil. i can just hear him... 'its gonna take this much more to fix it' (he did that to me when my truck wouldnt pass smog, cuz he put a new cat on it) and ill tell him 'i just paid 2200 for this, it should have been done right the first time, if you wont stand behind your work ill call a lawyer' ...or is there someone i can call if he decides to try screwin me again?

I'm sure the Better Business would like to hear from you. I also now that around here, the local Pittsburgh news stations will sometime air peoples issues with stores, mechanics, contractors. He may have done this to others as well. Tell him you'll contact the local news as well, I'm sure he does not want it to get out that he hosed you...

But I'd just talk to him first before making threats. Just tell him what's going on and say it needs fixed, it's past the break in period, don't let him feed you that.
