Heres a pic of the pliers I used.

I did not replace the grommet (prolly should have), next time I change the valve I'll remove the intake and do the relocation mod. Having those pliers sure made the difference, they are SnapOn and made for doing just such a job, fortunately I was able to borrow them.

I don't have a picture, but it's not hard to locate.....(on the V6).

If you look under the plenum on top of the pass. side valve cover right about in the middle, you'll see it. It has a vac line running from it to the plenum near the cold start injector.

Replacing them every couple of years helps prevent them getting brittle and breaking into pieces....the grommet, that is.

When I replaced the '89 22RE timing chain last year, I just shook the valve cover and heard the PCV valve rattle. Good enough for me, because I'm sure that getting that grommet out would be a mutha. Wouldn't even try with the valve cover in place.

I busted off the plastic PCV on my '72 MOPAR v-8 and a piece fell inside (luckily on the baffle) trying to get it out of the grommet. When I pulled the other valve cover to replace the breather filter and grommet I actually ended up bending the opening in the valve cover...had to use a chisel and pry bar. THat rubber is hard as a rock after a few years. I'll change them every couple years from now on.

So I guess I'm the only one who thinks, damn, I should take off my intake plenum to get to that PCV valve. It wasn't a stupid mistake though I was replacing the valve cover gasket anyway so I got that grommet out easily.

If I had to do change out the PCV while the plenum was on I'd use something like this:

I have a pair of these as well as regular angled needle nose pliers. They are the handiest tool I've bought in a long time.
