Another timing set thread.....

So I had this REALLY NASTY sound coming from the front of the engine. Pulled all of the drive belts to eliminate the Generator, A/C, Power steer from being the problem.

Still had the noise. Coming from the front middle of the block. Pulled the timing chain cover. Dampers have wear. Tensioner block was worn to the point that the chain had worn through the block and was onto the steel pin in the tensioner.

Pulled the chain, Haynes Manual SPecs it at 147 mm between 17 links. I was averaging 155.7 over 4 different locations.

Says to measure the sprockets as well with the chain. The cam sprocket measures 116.8 mm and the crank sprocket measures 60.2 mm.

Can't find a spec for either of those.

I am used to the old GM sets, chain and gears are a set. Same thing with Toyota's?

Not going to go muh further than this as.......

I found a donor 89 Cressida with 7MGE for $350 complete.
