I ran Rotella in my 3.5L Trooper for a few years but I have the dodgy oil rings that cause the engine to use oil so I switched back to dino.

In the link above, notice that the yearly mileage savings is calculated on 25,000 miles per year, with normal driving 12,000 to 15,000 per year, so I typical user would not experience such a large savings. With the lower threshold of 12,500 it would work out to be about $88 dollars per year for regular dino, and with only one oil change per year with amsoil, you would save around $20 bucks a year and some time under the vehicle.

I respectfully decline to answer that question.
... as it bears no relevance to the topic de jour.

Guns don't kill people... people who point a loaded gun at people, then proceed to pull the trigger are what kills people.
Who should have a gun? The person who would ask someone to "leave" or the person who would ask "give"?

NOTE: I doubt Amsoil guarantees the extended drain interval. I would ABSOLUTELY NOT take anyone's word that you could go 15k miles or 1 year without changing it without a Used Oil Analysis.

You basically changed all the info, it was on dino at 3k and Amsoil at 25k. That chart said nothing about 12k oil changes
I run mine 25k in more than 1 vehicle i dont care what the driving conditions are. I get my vehicles tested and I run 25k. My 4runner hasnt made it to that point yet but its on its way i have only had it a year. I swaped it when i got it and ran the XL line 12k and tested it it came back god and o internal issues. UOAs is the only way to know if its working. Oneday all the brainwashed 3k oil changers will be people of the past I cant convince everyone but i put it out there. My wife drives one of the vehicles and she drives the living hell out of a car, it holds up to 25k no problem. I have a truck that sits in the garage most of the time I do it once a year no problems.
If you drive like 2 miles to work a day it may be diferent thats the worst on the oil.

'm using ... 15W50 right now

SPECIFICALLY why ?

There is no reason to use anything "thicker" than 0w-xx or 5w-xx (if you can't find a 0w-xx) and lots of reason not to.
Also, again, the vast majority should be using nothing "thicker" than 0w30 or 5w30 and most can probably use a 20 weight even.

15w50 is waaayyyyyy to thick for anyplace that you'll ever drive.
Why in blazes are you using that ?

You went from a 10w30 to a 15w50 and you seem a little surprised that your oil pressure is higher. You should be shocked if it wasn't.

This may not be the answer you're looking for but the owners manual recommends oils from 5W-30 up to 20W-50 depending on the temperature range that you drive in. Where I live it recommends either 10W-40 or 20W-40 for the summer.

So you're basing your decision on a 22 year old recommendation that's based on 22 year technology and knowledge and based on the properties of 22 year old dino oil.
Kinda silly IMO
