Alternator removal help
I have a 88 4Runner 3vze and I was wondering What parts need to be disconnected from the alternator before I try to take it out. Also if anyone knows a how-to video or link on how to remove an alternator that would be awesome

Welcome!!
Search for a copy of the Factory Service Manual. It'll walk you through step by step for all things mechanical. I got one for an 88 on digits but too large to email.

I would also like to thank this thread...
I just replaced my own alternator on my '92 3VZE for the first time.... i've had the truck for a number of years and this is it's 3rd alternator but the first time I tackled the job myself, thanks to this thread. It took exactly one hour and was far, far more simple than replacing my fuel injectors as I did myself, last year. I found an 80amp (I prefer the 80amp alternators because I have numerous aftermarket accessories) off eBay for $93 shipped.
You'll need: 14mm socket, 12mm socket, 10mm socket, be sure to save the plastic protective clip (mine is gray) to reattach to the B+ (positive...alternator to battery) wire to protect the fitting from arcing or anything else. Otherwise everything else is fairly simple. I removed the rubber air-intake hoses to get a better view of the back of the alternator where you have to squeeze the clip in order to remove the plug of wires. Unhooking the battery beforehand.. is the most important thing.
Once again, yotatech gives me the courage to tackle the work myself. I love these trucks.... fairly straightforward to work on! 153,000 miles now, she'll be 25 years old in November.
