Advice for Hydro locked 3.slow
So I bought a junker 4runner for spare parts and it came with a hydrolocked engine. As I'm loading the engine (it was taken out) I notice the freeze plugs are brand new. It was hydrolocked at 2K miles. So I get home and want to see the damage. Maybe it can be salvaged. I've got a collection of Toyota's now. I've gone Toyota truck/4runner crazy.

My question
Can't turn the crank. But can't really see what is preventing that. I am trying to remove what is left of the frame of the crank. Shouldn't I just be able to unbolt the the frame that holds the crank to the block. I unbolted it but the frame holding up the crank is catching on a lip at the back of the engine (top of picture). I'd like to pull the pistons and look at the damage.
Any advice?
All I've ever had was auto shop 101 in HS. I am just doing this as a hobby. If I can salvage this thing then maybe I can sell it and buy something else for my Toyota addiction. Maybe I'll swap my other 3.slow and sell the old one.

3.4
I'll get to a 3.4 eventually. There are kinks that are still be worked out by the community that I'll wait to settle until I do that. For now it is 3.slow for me.

I can't remember for sure but it looks like the lip you are talking about is the rear main seal plate. That should unbolt from the back of the block, then you can remove the girdle and see the damage.
