95 Tacoma no power
Hi all, my son has a 95 Tacoma w/ 22R and is having a lack of power issue. Noticed in the last year. Hard to pull up hills and even stay at highway speeds. We have done the initial things:
Plugs/wires
Cap/Rotor
replaced Exhaust Manifold (cracked)
Fuel Filter
Oil Change of course
will be doing a compression and leakdown test soon
Any items I should pay close attention to when troubleshooting this engine?
thank you!

Ignition timing. Checking that should be your first step. You can get a good timing light for $30. https://www.harborfreight.com/timing...nce-40963.html

A 95 will have a 22re and it wont be a Tacoma, it will be just a pickup. That might make finding things for it easier.
With that said, how is the idle? Any stalling at lights? I would check for vacuum leaks and any hole in the intake system to make sure no unmetered air is getting in. I would also check the AFM with a multimeter to see if it is reading correctly

Tacos started in 1995 and the 4 cyl engines were 2.4L 2RZ-FE and the 2.7L 3RZ-FE. 22R-E engines ended with the 1994 Yotas (Hilux or p/u truck as Toyota calls it). Check your rotor and distributor cap as well as plugs and timing.
