93 Pickup Rebuild
Greetings,
I am a new member to this site, but a long time Toyota owner. I originally had a 99 Tacoma, but sold it when my child was born. Several years ago, I purchased my 93 Pickup, and began my adventure. It was in rough shape and needed a lot of work. It had a 3 inch body lift, but you could tell that a lot of corners were cut. The interior was completely trashed and several of the dash and trim pieces were missing. I began acquiring the necessary interior pieces from a local junk yard. I then rebuilt the 22RE engine and got the AC system working. I had both the bench seat reupholstered and carpet replace with vinyl. I rocked along with this for several years using the truck to hunt and fish out of, as well as yard work. Last year, after being tired the AC system not cooling while at an idle because the body lift would not allow for a fan shroud, I decided to start working on my build. I removed the body lift and converted to a Superlift 4 inch suspension lift. I rebuilt the rear axle and added a ARB air locking differential. I completely replaced all of the front and rear suspension components and all of the braking components. The truck was then sent off to a local guy who does paint and body work. The body was in really rough shape as well and I didn't want it to be show quality. The truck is still not perfect, and that is OK, because I still want to use it for hunting. I still want to add a skid plate to the front to cover the suspension lift and add a brush guard with a winch, but I am more than pleased with the outcome. Hope my story inspires someone else to bring one back from the grave.
