bump for the question.

I was showing my son where I need to put the black stuff on the timing cover and good thing I did, because I had to use a scalpel...err I mean xacto knife (hehehe) to trim away the overhanging gasket from the timing cover.

Is that a challenge?

Anyways, 92 Toy, I love the colour scheme you're going for with your rebuild. Rust, steel, iron, aluminum, orange, carbon. Not gonna do up the head or at least what's attached to it with some enamel? I guess anything exhaust-side would probably not like the heat.

this isn't gonna be like a geek dance-off is it?

the head.....not much I can do there...as much as I'm gonna see of it, well it will be a reminder of what could have been if I had the extra $$$$ to get it cleaned professionally or bucked up for a new one.

No orange....that's bright red....pictures make it look orange but rest assure, in person, it's red.

what about the FIPG versus Black RTV???

anyone?

I got one vote for RTV so far.

FIPK, if you already have it, might as well use it. In my book they are one in the same only difference is the FIPK is of higher quality.

If you have the FIPG use it on the pan...for the other stuff I'd use RTV...
We are talking about the pan right??? Did the gasket come with the kit? How about using the gasket with some RTV.

Sorry I'm trying to get out the door end of day stuff...

Oh yeah, so earlier we had an Easter party at the school with my little guy. was fun. easter egg hunt. lotsa candy, musical chairs.....oh yeah, musical chairs.....wife made a kid cry....mean woman she is....but it was a close call....2 kids...1 chair...red got called out and he became friggin hysterical....wow...that's why i could never be a teacher....nope, no patience for that stuff.....none whatsoever.

anyway, here's my little guy...he looks absolutely thrilled.

and he was wondering FIPG or Black RTV?

sounds like, feels like, I ought to be OK with the RTV stuff.
