I know, I know.

But now that I think of it, I have to turn the crank a few more times to finish cleaning....so I guess that was just practice.

so while all the smart people in the world are still sleeping on their day off....I'm in the garage having a smoke and a coffee and thought I'd start messing around.......

several little metal tubes that need cleaning and painting....but they are in bags that are marked.....and I'm thinking , how do I not forget what these tubes are for....so I took post-it notes and wrote on them and put them inside the tubes....should work out OK but I think maybe I will put those notes in a little baggie too since I plan on cleaning the parts up and I'm afraid the water will ruin the notes....we will see, but here's some pics to show what I'm doing but also to be a reference for me....so don't mind so many pics......

Want them to end up looking like these.......that vacuum line one is going to be red....

another current dilemma is that TED included a ton of gaskets etc with the gasket kit I ordered but some of them I have NO CLUE what they are......I will play that as I go along......I'm going to try and see if there is a gasket in there for the plate on the back of the head and other parts of the head but I am not going to just start pulling stuff off to see if I have a corresponding gasket and find out I don't. That would not be good.

My plan for today ...(and I have to be realistic in that there's other stuff to be done) is to clean and paint those tubes and clean the top of the block and piston tops PERFECT and have all that ready to go and probably move the head from my basement up to the garage so I could continue cleaning it in the driveway instead of sickening myself with fumes doing it in the basement like I did before.....fumes are a bad thing.

so then, I was in the Auxiliary Toyota Research Room, and thinking...not plastic bags but saran wrap.....so I wrapped my little notes inside that.

About the exhaust manifold, I wanted to do something to dress it up but I know that it will get far too hot for the Duplicolor high heat engine paint I have been using. It is only rated for 500 deg. While I was at the auto parts store, I found some VHT flame proof header paint that is good all the way up to 2000 deg. So I am going to paint mine with that & see how well it holds up.

I bought a can of silver VHT paint for the exhaust manifold because I was going to pain the block black. But then somebody talked me into painting the block silver instead so now I am going back to the parts store to swap my silver can for a black one or else it would just be too much silver. My exhaust manifold is missing the heat sheild so it is going to be in plain veiw.
