Was it that easy to guess that was where we went?
Used to go to a CPA for about 1/3rd the cost but we moved too far away to keep going. Gotta find another one.

LMAO I have so many friends that quit going there! The year that I started using her, I actually didn't have h&r complete my taxes and had her take a look, and H&R screwed me out of almost $1500.00!! I still had to pay h&R that year for they're processing fee, but it was worth it!!

I used to go to H&R but I know a guy who knows a guy that has a guy that does his for a fraction of the cost. so I'm going to give the retired H&R guy a call. I don't like taxed, no fun for me.

ok girls.....
giving some SERIOUS thought to buying ENGNBLDR's complete head with the 268 and the complete timing cover / set with pumps.
Even though my engine never so much as missed or anything, the valves look like crap. I would love to rebuild it as a project but not for "this" project.
I figure buying the complete head adds about $200 or so versus getting the current head machined and rebuilt...so I think that while (not yet) I will have the $$$ available, I should just do it.
And no, I'm not pulling the block, so don't go there. I say that with the utmost respect for the opinions that have been expressed , but really, I'm BEYOND nervous and annoyed with this already and breaking more bolts paralyzes my thoughts about doing that. I've found that bolts in place for 18+ years want to stay right where they are at despite what I want them to do.
so i know I'm not exactly going to get an argument from anyone about the new head thing, but I thought i'd just let you all know what I'm thinking of doing.

yes.
been on Ted's site....trying to figure out what all I will need so I don't have any of those "doh!" moments when this is a go again.
seems between a new head (et al) and a new timing cover (et al) I may need to buy a gasket set with bolts and just some other stuff like i had lister (crank bolt, fipg, allen bolt, injectors serviced....gotta see if Ted includes the washers / bushings or whatever those are called that were all crumbly, and new hose..from the timing cover to block and belts )
One thing that concered me about my head, besides the condition of the valves was that an exhaust bolt was snapped inside it....and even though I had no leak, I know that if I don't do something about it, it will bite me on the butt later.

stock head complete (w/o cam...add $88 for cam of choice) $348
street RV complete w/o cam $448...so 448 + 88= $536
what is the advantage??? am I risking not passing emissions?
I know on the "off-road HO" head he says "not guaranteed to pass emissions" and I'm not interested in THAT one.

Well I just finished reading the whole thing, I love how prolonged it all is. The humor and the random pics of spiders and grasshoppers are great sidelines when there is no "action". Keep it up, I am secretly hoping that this thing just goes on forever.

There should be some sort of award for reading this whole thing.
I will make a concise thread when it's all done.
you are part of about maybe 5 people who have painfully read through this thing.
sorry for your troubles..hahahahahahaha
