hahaha lol my bad

92, the truth is, this is my daily driver. period. the PROPER way, if i had a spare vehicle, would be to bring the head to a shop and have it machined blah blah blah blah and so on and so forth. but this is my ONLY vehicle other than my motorcycle, which is also out of commission. so i had to slap it back together knowing winter is coming SOON and my crotch rocket doesn't have snow tires. i probably would have done my timing chain, cover, and water pump at the same time. i probably would have got my head machined and rebuilt. if i had a spare vehicle, i probably would have taken more time and done it properly. but i don't, so i used duct tape. oh! and some bubble gum to hold the exhaust back on. so don't lose heart, you're doing it right. just keep at it.

absolutely. you can easily wrap someone up in duct tape so tightly that you can't see any of their skin. all you'd see is a wad of duct tape. but it really sucks to become "un-invisible" again.

WD-40, cardboard, duct-tape, bubblegum and bondo, what else would you possibly need to fix a car?

oh my no. i must've forgot to hit my sarcasm button on the keyboard before typing that.

no, i did everything RIGHT, short of changing a few old things that i could have while at it and i didn't machine or rebuild my head or even check the runout on the head or block. everything is fastened securely and properly just like it was the day they put the engine together the first time. really the only corner i cut was reusing my exhaust gasket (i woulda tried to re-use my upper intake gasket too but i tore it taking it off). i gambled, and i lost. i had a slight exhaust leak. but that was easy enough to change even when the engine was fully put back together, especially now that the bolts were loose.

1: Lubrication

2: Spray on rubber for that shiny look (kind of like Armour All)

3: Flame Thrower in loo of propane torch

here are 45 others: http://www.bloggingwv.com/45-uses-for-wd-40/

This thread wanders off frequently.

Here is the current status:

Engine sits exactly how I last left it.....crankshaft bolt off, waiting to pull the timing cover off to see the full damage inside.

Head is in my basement, gonna pretty it up, check it for warpage etc. does NOT appear (by my eyes and in comparing to other pictures) to have been a head gasket failure.

stopped...for now...unable to buy ANYTHING right now, but DO have a shopping list from ENGNBLDR of a full gasket set and timing chain and cover......hopefully soon.

have been getting my butt kicked at work leaving me exhausted and have almost been at work more than home and actually the way it's been in the last 2 weeks, I have spent more awake hours at work than at home.

So, no new pics.

This is a lesson to me and everybody else to not only have tools ready needed to do the job but the necessary $$$$$ available to FINISH the job.
