Probably wont need the bumper mounts unless the hitch needs them, doubt it though.
And on mine both of those bolts are accessible. Well, they were till my frame was plated. lol.

found a cheesy wrench i bought years ago that is supposed to fit most any bolt normal or irregularly shaped.......in other words, probably going to break another wrench today.

and that's just one side....haven't even attempted the passenger's side 2 bolts.

presuming that I will eventually outsmart those bolts and get the bumper mounts off, will give my frame the business and sand and paint everything i can see. after that, have to cut notches out of that piece of metal that hangs down under the tail-gate because this bumper comes straight off the frame. just making that notch and getting it right the 1st time promises to be a PITA.

assuming i will eventually get that bumper on I have to move forward with some minor body work / undercoating / painting.

would truly....truly rather do the ZUK mod and BJ spacer work on my truck 1st before Joe's, but would be a total waste and look stupid without 33's to put on there....so that's not happening any time soon.

assuming i need shocks. no so much due to ride quality, because we all know that sucks to begin with, but because my truck sits a bit lop-sided and has done so for a while. not sure what that means, but i was thinking i probably have a tired shock somewhere. besides that, those shocks are cheap cheap cheap replacements for the RANCHO 5000's I had on there years ago. I've done exhaustive research about the shocks and have come up with several prospects and suspects........but they all cost money. money i don't have. the likely winner will be PRO-COMP's 1000's or 3000's as they have the dual chambers.....whatever. I could debate that one forever. I know brandon had them and they were beefy as all hell.

exhaust:......yep...need one.

Jerry if they fit on yours you can have my rear procomp 3000's. They aren't even a year and a half old, but remember my thoughts on them, great ride, however although I hadn't confirmed with tape measure I thought they were a tad short on the extended length.

hmmmmm.....did you buy them? assuming you did, i will cross-reference to see if we match. when you get a chance, see if you can find any #'s on them I could reference. I remember those shocks still functioning well and you just needed longer travel.

well....gave it a good try....even fabbed up a tool or two or 3 and broke all of them. have to just go and buy a 6 point 19mm or 3/4'' wrench.

really thought i was gonna get that bolt too.....had utilized the hole on the side of the impact socket with a big spike....snapped the spike and then a tent spike the size of a thick nail and snagged that in place using a pipe wrench....all that accomplished was making some modern art. pic of said modern art forthcoming.

JERRY!

I am off yotatech for 6 months, and your forum goes to 140 pages =/

No way am I catching up on all of that...

If you are sagging anywhere, you need springs, not shocks. Springs keep the vehicle at ride height, but are bouncy. Shock absorbers help take the bounce out of both impact force and rebound force, but don't actually do the "suspending" portion of the suspension system.

Christ man, you spend more money breaking cheap tools than you would buying expensive ones to begin with.

Buy one set at a time, as you can afford it (or need it for a job). Someday, when your son inherits your tools, he will thank you ;-)

HOLY CRAP MAN!!!! where you been?

nah....no catching up necessary....just been using this thread as my "build-up" (or not) thread. truck running fine...lost the exhaust from the cat back and some odds and ends kinda putzy projects are in need of attention. put Joe's 4runner back together and have been using that daily.

as far as tools....yeah, i know that about buying the right ones....and rest assured I will......just was trying to make do with what I have, since I hate spending a nickel on anything....especially when there are no nickels to spend.

have broadened my capabilities since you were last here.

hope all is well with you bud.

hey....how are those brassy looking bolts holding up? is that what I should get?

only had SO MUCH (making a very small amount with my fingers) of money to spend today, so i didn't even buy spray paint. but, when i do, i'm gonna detail the frame real good and probably undercoat everything real good. it's not too terrible under there and the places that there is rust I'm not worried about it.

have to size up where this bumper will mount, if it's inside or outside the frame.....measure twice, cut once.

if by brassy looking bolt you mean those Grade 8 zinc plated 1/2" course thread SAE bulk bolts I have in my bumper and the same only in 3/4" variety I have in my leaf spring hangers, they are holding up just fine. Yanked on bumper several times at mud bogs, beat the hell outta my springs at RC and other places, and haven't broken one yet. The only thing I would do different is instead of double nutting then I would use the non-bulk nylock nuts instead.
