What hard line under the intake... the elbow that threads up into the underside of the VERY FRONT of the intake and then goes back? OR, the one that comes off the pass side rear of the timing cover and heads back, then splits off to the IACV and such? ORRRRRRR< are you talking about the infamous "wrap around" pipe that gave me all that grief? The one I had to tear down, AGAIN, to replace with a yard pipe and new O-ring from Toyota???? HMMMMM, I think I remember you commenting on my thread, ....that you RTV'd it up! No?
Wow, REALLY sorry, man! HATE having to get towed! GRRRR! lol. If it's leaked now to the point that the intake is free of fluid, and it IS THAT wrap around pipe that inserts into the bottom of the intake, vertically/upside-down, .... then you'll have to dry it with compressed air or something(the connector of that pipe-into-intake bottom)add fluid, reach under there and see if you feel a coolant leak. YOU CAN see that pipe connection from the bottom... and what I did was fill the coolant up again, .... watch from underneath, and sure enough, it came dripping out. If you lost enough coolant from that, makes perfect sense that you'd overheat thereafter.

Dang, man, that stinks! I know what it's like to be 'on call'... I've had to put off trips a day and MUCH worse! lol.
Far as the truck, .... I think you HAVE to remove the fuel filter to get that bastage out, .... not sure on the intake. I removed mine because IT WAS SO PRECARIOUS! Cut my arm all to hell reaching in there, did that TRY-FIX with the RTV+NEW OEM O-ring, .... got it back in, .... DANG if it wasn't still leaking(Mine leaked through the taper, actually right through the aluminum joint to the flange.....cuz, well, ..... I cleaned it too much and wore right through the joining of the flange/pipe! hahaha...The Flange is crimped with copper or something to the pipe.... so when I cleaned the intake side of the flange and pipe joining too well, ...it wore TINY porous holes in the joining.... and then water just dripped past the INSIDE of the o-ring right on through the flange/pipe joining and out the bottom)
Something I did, differently, .... When I removed the pipe/bolts, .... I replaced the bolts with studs(I think the water pump studs worked perfectly)... and the nuts with built in lockers, lil locktite on the studs.... made it SO MUCH EASIER to install it and KNOW it was going in straight, without removing the intake the SECOND time! lol.
Hope it's an easier fix, Jerry... and again, sorry you're dealing with this AND WORK STRESS, on a day you SHOULD be able to chill out a bit!

boooo for missing the mud bog.
OK...problem found....no biggie. small about 1/2'' hose from near the thermostat has a leak near it's connection. was able to re-create the condition and it would spray when the engine was revved....

I'm gonna say the leak caused me to lose the coolant...causing the "near" overheat....I just barely went past half-way, but I knew something was wrong because that gauge is so predictable

out of that little hole you lost enough coolant to overheat without noticing a big plume of steam first? I had a pin hole leak in my lower rad hose, never lost that much coolant in a short amount of time. Taped it up enough so it wasn't spewing coolant onto my header and made it home from the WVM without issue.

whoa that's kinda loud. is that mostly your exhaust leak? I think I hear valves in there too as well as maybe a timing chain or something. I don't remember it being that loud.

Yeah, ...that's pretty loud, but as far as the topic at hand...... HOLY CRAPOLI, that's a geyser alright! lol. Imagine if it totally ruptured, ....you'd be into a QUICK overheat! I ended up with that hose(it's the one really weird shape, right?... Like a questionmark with a drop in it, that wraps around the stat housing?).... got it there for 8$, perfect fit and made in the USA, lol. Mine leaked as well, ..only after my stat went bad, caused some pressure issue and blew it, and it overheated in like 20 seconds, lol. Nice steam plume from that one! lol.
Right on, ...not too big of a deal. Easy enough fix with an odd angle, eh? If you want it running, ...i'd hit the AutoBone or something, ...Napa closed at 2pm today over here, all of them.
Fhew, .....glad it's not that wrap around pipe and o-ring!!!! Cool video, btw, lol... lil blurry, ...but no peacocks?, ...that's just FINE WITH ME! lol.

valves probably need adjusted....oil change due too.
not sure who is open tomorrow. i am gonna have a small order from TOYOTA for Joe's motor, so I will probably just hold out until then.
PS....those little hose clamps are evil (the ones you squeeze)
