92 Been awhile since I have been on here, but after getting your motor going, brakes, tire guards on, probably felt as if everything was against you getting it on the road. Glad to hear you have 5-700 miles on it now. Having the "its paid for/I did it smell" just gets better. Enjoy the ride.

Ya, was is a sidewall issue or were they just coming apart?
92 If you get these go with the Kedge Grip as well that'll make a huge difference in the winter.

so.....today was the day i had set aside to change my oil cap.
i searched and googled , read my FSM, my Haynes and my Chiltons. the best thread i found so far was this one https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f5/2...-wierd-141477/ but even that only had limited info as to what to do to make this a success.
so feeling all full of myself, i set out this morning to make this a reality.
1st of all.....tools needed for this......breaker bar , pipe wrench, coffee, pink floyd CD, mechanics gloves.
PROCEDURE:
remember the basics "left loosie, righty tightie"
with your tools all assembled and music playing and coffee coursing through your soul, you are ready to begin.
BEFORE:
i will use this pic as reference when putting the new cap on....
remove the cap.......turn it to the left, several times....mine took about 5 turns, your's may be different depending on what engine you have.
look at the cap, look at the filler hole as well....smell the cap.....smells gooooooooood!!!!
with a clean rag , or in my case, paper towel, carefully place the new cap in the work area taking great caution as to not step on the breaker bar or pipe wrench you left laying there because you don't need them.
with your right hand (i'm a righty, if you are a lefty, i'm not sure what to tell you.....but this is what worked for me)...place the cap loosely in the filler hole.....don't start threading it yet, you aren't ready just yet.........jiggle the cap around until you can start threading it with little to no resistance.
turn the cap so that it lines up perfectly for a picture
then turn the cap a bit more.....in my case, about 1/64th of a turn to get it snug.
from what i've read, you have to remove the cap with each oil change, so the procedure is about the same......just try not to hurry through it.
i was going to start a thread documenting the whole procedure, but i don't think i took enough pics to really do it justice, and unfortunately, because it's already done, it's too late for that now.

LOL Jerry, nice detailed write up on that oil cap man. I was worried about changing mine, but will all of the knowledge you have shared with us all, I now know I can handle this task!

if i could do it, you could do it Rob.... i believe in you. but it's definitely something i wanted to try....for myself......i had an estimate for over $600 to change it at the dealer.....so i figure i just saved myself a bunch of cash.
