if anyone is interested....i've put a total of 54 miles on so far.
the one and only issue is that little oil leak at the very back of the pan....i will (not now) get under there with the light (and camera) to try to get a better look at what's going on there.
like i said it almost looks like i "plowed" the FIPG away in that spot as there is a curl of it in that area , so i probably left myself with some sort of breech.
again...if that's the worst thing after all this, i will take it.

well 92 it looks as though my motor is going the route of yours. You guessed it head gasket! It's pushing combustion gas through the coolant and causing air along with coolant to fill the over flow resevior. Life sucks! I'm going to napa today to get the tester kit to make darn sure there's exhaust in my coolant before i tear the head off the motor.

Remember......mine was NOT the headgasket, it was the timing chain.
take the valve cover off and have a look to see if you still have your driver's side guide.

The motor's new as of last year so the timing cover is out. It only has 18,000 miles on it! To say the least i'm kinda pissed. I was dumb and let the cooling system fail thinking it was something different. The truck over heated a little but never severely. In turn it caused the cheapo head gasket i installed to fail at the water jacket next to the cylinder. I forgot the timing cover was your culprit.

I'm still not at that point where i feel i am out of the woods yet with this. my ride back and forth to work was a good stress test for it and it passed. the drips of oil i noticed on Friday from just little 1 mile rides.
i still feel like i need to take it on a few more extended runs before i feel that i am in good shape. as i've said to my sons and wife....of all the places to see or have a leak, that's probably the best place.

well....just called the garage to see about getting it inspected and asked about the swaybar (because it's still only partially attached)....and he said if it was on there then it's supposed to be there and i need it attached......so looks like it will be a little bit for me to drill out those bolts and put new somethings in.
***a note*** the swaybar DOES NOT NEED TO BE loosened or removed to drop the diff

Just as a side note.......
Adding a rear sway bar made my Tundra a whole new truck, it rides great through turns, a little more bouncy on our dirt road, adding the camper it provides a huge difference in sway.
Removing the front sway bar from my CJ5 made it a VERY uneasy feel to drive on the roads, at "normal" speeds w/ turns.
Ended up adding Disconnectable end links so when I was off road it would be better and when I was on road I didn't feel like every turn was a 25MPH max
Great thread, a bit long but it has been a fun read over the past 2 months for me.
I'm hoping to turn the key on mine this week, gotta finish the interior, add exhaust and new windshield, charge AC, I figure the first 6-months will be nail biting after that all good.
Repo
