Hey 92,

What I did was slide the rotor about 1/4 of the way to the right of #1, the as I slid it in, the gear turned the distrib. back to where the rotor back-clicked right to #1.

Hope that's helpful, but it probably sounds more like "goo goo ga ga, blah blah", hahaha. Sorry, I'm not always the best with these terminologies.

GOOD ON YA!

I think (memory going a bit) if you have the rotor about 9:00 when installing the distributer it will turn clockwise to about 11:00 where it should for for TDC. "I think"

OK....i'm back up on the big computer.....Hayne's manual was worthless.

Now...what do i know, but do all distributors have this little nub sticking out?...does that denote something as far as where it should lie with the gear from the cam?

I presume you made sure the engine is at TDC on #1's compression stroke. If it's not you'll be 180 degrees off.

My 22R distributor doesn't have that nub. It's hard to tell from pictures, but your rotor position looks about right. You could try holding the dist cap in position and eyeball whether the rotor points at #1.

Looks like your rotor is getting tired.

The o-ring that seals your distributor cap is missing a chunk. They are a couple bucks from Toyota. Might be able to find one the right size locally.

Sure do!

That housing at 10-oclock, when you put the cap on, you'll see it's a perfect line up for the #1,.......although, yours being a 92, it's a lil diff than mine. That looks right to me,......but remember, ....IT'S ME! lol.
