Parodi is a nice little all natural cigar.

I think Bleeder broke that head bolt when he was removing the head.

I don't have any pic's of the back of mine but you do not need to remove the 2 pipes. As long as they are not connected at either end they'll come up with the head.

Just that one bolt and some tap tap here and there and your good.

ya know, i could wiggle that bolt back and forth, so that's another reason why i'm sure it's free from the block. it's in such an awkward place that i can't really get under it to hit it straight up.

i remember he broke a bolt. i also remember he didn't take the bolts out in the sequence prescribed that's why i gave him that little "BLEEDER!!!" shout in my thread.

EQUALS THIS.....................

Look at this mess...............

[IMG][/IMG]

Anyhoo.............i've tried pulling the head off. i did believe ya LUMPY but i wanted to see a pic anyway so i stole a shot of the back of OLHARLEY's engine....well anyway i can't find it with photobucket but it's on my computer.

so anyways, i need a lift or something. i can't get that head to budge. i put my breaker bar in an exhaust hole and was ablle to rock the whole engine. i guess i have to breach the gasket to get it off.

i feel like today was a minor victory, so prying the head off will wait. may buy me a real prybar to do it, or pull it out. still waiting to hear about a chain wrench.

I am hoping my mediocre life and trials and tribulations provide some comedy relief to some viewers.

Also being a purebred NEWBIE, I think that what I am going through and the roadbocks I am hitting are the same ones that any NEWBIE or expert would hit. It's just that us NEWBIES have to stop, reset, ask questions and dig in again.

This thread is exactly what I said it would be, a pretty-much step-by-step instructional and documentary (of sorts) of how to systematically go about this.

Now all I need is about 300 dollars.................HMMMMMMM

No way are head gaskets strong enough to lift the engine, if you're prying the head off.

Double check you have all the bolts out. I've never had a head gasket resist the pressure of a crowbar.

10 HEADBOLTS out / actually 9 because #10 is still laying there loose at te very back.....in my brain, no way is this disengaged bolt doing anything. so 9 bolts out and bagged for YOTATECH inspectors if required of me.

got the elusive bolt out from under the ditributor gear "puddle of oil".

had a bugger of a time getting the valve cover to seperate as well......dealer must have used some good right there that doesn't want to let go.

But yeah, i thought i was levering the head but then i looked and the whole truck lifts. I'm not a puss, so I AM applying alot of force.

i was using a breaker bar in an exaust hole.

i was triyng to use the prybar at the prying area (just under the distrbutor hole) but can't get a stable bite so that's when i tried the breaker bar.

after that, that's when i decided need a smaller but stil strong prybar that i could breach the gasket with to peel up a corner.

Watch your chin then, i've had them be pretty hard, but nothing I couldn't muster off ...

I'm 225 lbs and can bench my tranny and transfercase (did it saturday when I changed my clutch). So i've had them fight me pretty good then the prybar smacks me in the face as soon as it lets loose.

You should hear 'sticky seperation' I call it when you're prying. It's a noise sounds like your taking tape off your skin or something.

Do you have a rubber mallet or put a block of wood on the head. Pull up on the head a bit and give a few taps. Come on!!! I wanna see this head off!!! I'm tired of waiting!!! The suspense is KILLING ME!!!!!

so anyway, my cursory check of the headgasket looks OK to me. I want everyone to weigh in on that. will make the difference if i spend the $$$$ on a machine shop was-cut and curl or just pretty this up and put it back in.

likewise, from my novice eye, the piston tops look good too.

and i used a chisel, from thearea of the pry-point to breach it and the levered it up.....not as heavy as i thought it would be ut definitely an awkward pull that i will fee tomorrow.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOO!!!!!!!
