90 4runner tailgate disassembly question
My taligate (with motorized window)...the top edge of the tailgate where the weather strip meets the window.
The weather stripping is pulling off due to the tailgate rotting where clips used to clip on.
I have a guy that can refab the metal (after cutting out the old) and replace the weather stripping.
Our question is...how much is involved in getting the tailgate inner panels off?
The inside tailgate carpeted panel is no problem getting off. It's the plastic piece at the top of the inside of the tailgate that we are concerened about. The plastic piece includes inside door handle and lock. We've never had this apart before and we're curious before we start taking things apart and what all might be involved and anything we might need to look out for upon disassembly and re-assembly.
Thanx all for your help.

There isn't much to it. Pop the carpeted pannel off. Then ther are somethin like 8 or so screws to remove the inner metal pannel. Then there is a plastic clip (green? I think) on the end of the lock rod, turn it off the rod, pop the rod out and then remove the lock button. There are 2 screws for the handle and a similar clip/rod setup - turn, pull & remove. Then there are 4(?) screws that hold the top plastic pannel. remove and the pannel just pops off...
Hope this helps...
