'90-22r to 2.7L i4 swap

Hello everyone;
Has anyone achieved such a swap? Any tips would be appreciated.
'90 base pup. Factory a/c, power steering, headers, 4wheel disc brakes.
Stock 22r 2bbl., 5sp. manual.
Thanks,
z

I've been gathering parts for this swap in my 94 22re for a while. Only thing I have left to get is the time to do it. There is a lot of info over on the marlin crawler forum for this swap. I think the thread is close to 60 pages and worth a look.

Thanks Robert;
I am headed down the same path with securing parts and planning.
Your advice is much appreciated and I'll keep you updated with my progress.
Best wishes.

Actually I want to swap my 22r for a newer '05'-'09 "2TRfe" (used Tacoma engine).

That swap has been done but not nearly as documented. I know it has a few more things that need to be done and has more electrical pieces but it's a good engine.

I found that the TRfe swap has too many alterations. This engine was developed for the local Japanese market and the engine reflects this.
The exhaust and alternator are on the passenger side and the throttle body, a/c and battery are on the driver side just like a right hand drive vehicle.
Too radical for this pup. I'll work out some upgrades for my existing 22r. LCE has some decent but $$ upgrades.
Thanks for the replies and best wishes.

first 22r engine went 400k.
