You generally speaking will be under the gun to reproduce the factory texture using an inside out construction..
Your best off forgoing the factory texture sand it smooth and apply a good 2k epoxy and polishing it out..
You could try @slacker and see what he has to offer in the way of advice to get a factory texture.

I said screw the original texture, laid filler on it and sanded it smooth.
Everything is (was, is getting old again) gloss black.

This was 20 years ago - can't say. We used spray on filler. I had to do all the sanding.
