88 3.o engine stalls when air intake removed is this normal?

reading and googling everthing i can find.trying to solve my kids high idle issue on 88 4x4 truck 3.0 thx

A fuel injected engine needs to know the air flow in order to run. That's the Vane Air Flow meter on top of the air filter. If by "air intake removed" you have disconnected the induction plumbing between the throttle body and air filter box, then yes, it SHOULD stall.
