87 Yota Engine Install Question

87 Yota Engine Install Question
I've got an 87 yota pickup. 2wd. Planning to install the engine soon and was considering dropping the transmission and motor in as one piece. With no transfer case I think I can manage but I'm looking for advice from someone who has done it this way before.
No radiator or shroud will be in the way but the radiator support isn't going anywhere.
Thanks in advance!!!

2WD=no transfer case. That's something a 2WD doesn't need to worry about.
Dropping the motor in with the trans attached is the way the FSM recommends you do it. Just need a decent engine hoist, and to be able to adjust the angle the engine/trans assembly is at. You tip it down to where the tip of the trans points nearly straight down into the engine compartment.Slide the assembly down and back into place. You adjust the angle until it's nearly horizontal as you drop it down and back into place.
I've never done it, myself, but I've watched others, and it just slips right in if you have the angle right. It's pretty obvious once you get started lowering/tipping it.
Good luck!

Hey 2ToyGuy
Thanks for input! I ordered a leveler and I got a hoist that should put the engine high enough. Looks like there is enough room for sure. I think I'm going to install both as there isn't much room under the truck and I'm not trying to do a clutch job under there.
A little eye candy. .020 over bore. Doing a full mechanical and cosmetic restore. Added AC all Denso.

if you can make the angle and drop in it'll be nice not having to futz with those top bolts on the bellhousing.
