87 1-ton pickup with hard / soft brake pedal

It was remanufactured by Cardone. That being said, they also just did the original one I sent in via Rock Auto - the one that works. Maybe the quality control is better when Rock Auto requests the reman. It's been too long to return it - I'm just going to eat the loss, toss the damn thing in the dumpster so no one else has to deal with it, and carry on.

I'd still contact the place you bought the first one and atleast complain even if they won't refund you. Most managers are willing to bend the rules to keep a customer happy. Explain you bought another one from another location and it worked etc, but theirs didn't. I know if I sold a harness, and 3 months later a person finally goes to install it and there's an issue, I'd atleast work with the buyer.

I agree with atcfixer to complain anyway, you might get lucky. It seems that the companies that reman parts have steadily gone downhill over the years. I remember years ago when I first started working on cars, cheap parts seemed good enough for an older vehicle and at least worked for a while. As time went on, I started getting more and more bad parts right off the shelf. Now I always try to find OEM equivalent parts despite the cost, but sometimes that is just not possible and you have to roll the dice. Glad you got it fixed!

Yea, some companies seem to work on the principle that they can have x% of a defect rate to lower costs or whatever by cutting corners, and very few people actually complain or return the product. If you bought a new car, and the engine was bad, wouldn't you be pissed and want a 100% refund? Treat the $100 parts or whatever it cost the same way, they are still stealing your money and not delivering on the product they are selling you.
