86 22re pickup hard starting after tune up...

Ok so this is my first post here..I have a 1986 pickup 4wd automatic with 293k miles on it. I joined because I thought I was going to do a rebuild on my 22re but decided to wait as long as possible while I get other parts of the truck fixed up(it's in sorry shape from the PO). So I went and spent about 500 bucks at the parts store to tune up the engine, I got a valve cover gasket, water pump, radiator, hoses, Pcv valve, vacuum lines, and a new battery. Also to note I bought spray cleaner for the throttle body and MAF sensor both of which were very dirty!!!!! Before putting all this in, the truck started up fine the first crank but ran rough. Now it's having a hard time starting, and if I mess with the idle screw and the other screw for the AC idle(doesn't even have ac so not sure why it affects idle but it does lol) it will eventually start!! By mess with it I mean loosen up the screws counter clock wise running back and forth little by little and keep trying to crank it lol. I'll hear it fire off sometimes then immediately die.. And it will run beautifully when it does start with more power then it did before and no rough idle..Doesnt make sense to me but I've never learned much about engines besides the basic tune up stuff... Another note is this previous owner took the truck in some deep mud, enough to where it covered the engine in Georgia clay so I'm not sure if it could've gummed something up but I figured my cleaning and tune up would've made it start better and not hardly start now. Any ideas or suggestions??? I'm at a loss right and feel like I just messed things up by doing the tune up but the Pcv valve and everything was clogged up and vacuum lines cracked!! Not sure why with all new stuff it would be a hard start.

First off I would change all fluids change the air filter/intake, clean the fuel system!! But I would get a rebuilt engine for $1000 with a two year warranty. And not have to guess and likely screw something up further. Sorry if I wasn't any help but sounds like the best idea to me.

Fluids and air filter changed! Haven't cleaned fuel system yet but like I said running fine and starting fine before just a little rough idle and it idles perfect. But if you can tell me where I can find a new rebuilt motor for 1k with a two year warranty I'll gladly get one lol

What about the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, ignition coil, valve clearance adjustment?

How did you clean the MAF sensor? These types shouldn't be cleaned like the newer ones.
