no.

on a 22r"E" im not sure where they "float", because the ecu cuts the fuel at 6250rpm. so i know its at least obove that!

when i mentioned 7500rpm's i was talking about a 22"R" that had no internal mods other than a cam. the motor turned 7,000rpm every other time the guy ran it, and his valves would float at about 7,500.

i never said it was good for the motor.
i never said the motor would last long.

unless built for it its not good to turn a 22r 7,500 rpms for long....

(Hook a mechanical oil gauge up and run it to the windsheild or in your truck so you can see it. Tell us what it is and what its doing until then yea....)

This thread is absolutely, positively, hilarious. I am still waiting to find out exactly what a Mexican hot dog is…I simply must know. It sounds kind of like a donkey punch, which is what will happen to the engine if you run it a 7000 rpm for any extended period of time, which everyone has so far agreed upon.

Some one PM me please if the Mexican hot dog issue gets resolved.

I searched Google for "Mexican hot dog" and all I got was hot dogs with a bunch of onions and beans on them. I don’t see how a hot dog with beans and onions is pertinent to the discussion.

It's a hot dog wrapped in bacon, with onions and different toppings covered in mayo. It's a Sonoran specialty and Gnarls is from Arizona so I though he might be familiar with it. There's nothing wrong with a little off-topic banter now and again. I guess I just got hungry while reading.

I concur. The off topic banter is what kept me in the thread. Oh. Well....

I was just kind of thinking in another direction about the M.H.D.

Righto. Got it. Carry on then.

Where are your Toyota experts? I agree with gNarls, listen to the people who build Toyota race engines as part of their job.

jesus christ you guys.... he only ran the truck at 4K rpms...that's not bad..hell a lot of people run theirs at 3500-3700 for extended periods of time...so whats a few hundred more rpms gonna hurt....NOTHING...EXACTLY...lol

and if he wants to speed..that's his choice...lol i speed all the time...granted i don't go more than about 5 or 10mph over the speed limit lmao

all this off topic banter is quite entertaining though guys lol

and i have had my 22r up to over 6000rpms...but only for about a second lmao..and that was last night..was cruisin a long...hit some ice and my motor started SCREAMIN' LOL..

my sweet spot for power is about 1500-4000rpms with 1st through 3rd..4th gear really kicks at about 2800-4500 rpms and 5th gear won't gain any speed really..but it will hold speed as long as i'm above 3000rpms or so..

Hey, I'm only here for the hot dogs...

I think that people should do what ever they want. Especially with their own stuff.

This one went way off topic in a hurry. It's like talking Covettes and a Grand National guy walks in.... too much tech for me to even understand (although I'd take an 86 GN over any Vette any day)

As an update the rig is running great. Fixed my exhaust leak, cleaned up the PS pump (works as usual), replaced the spark plugs with some NGK Iridiums (spelling??) and believe it or not the CEL went out and has been off for just under 100 miles.

Yes I did speed. Yes I did turn 4K rpm but on a side note several months ago when my muffler broke in half on the way back from fishing I was running a 4800rpm and just a tad under 115mph for about 40 miles. Call me stupid if you want to (gnarls?) but it ran freaking great and I was able to pass folks in 5th gear.

These engines are tough and at 225,000 (ish) miles mine is still in it's prime.

Lol, my camaro does 120, but it has a 4 speed with no overdrive, and pretty poor gearing.
i think something like 3.73's rear, and then 4th is 1:1..
i can take off in 4th
