85 4wd t-case & rear axle to 89 4runner?
okay so i've tried to search this out but this seems to be a weird question. I have an option to pick up a 85 pickup with solid front and rear axles and a 2lt engine with the turbo being removed for about $500. Not the problem is that the frame is smashed up and is not able to be fixed. I do however have a 89 4runner with a bad rear axle and transfer case that only works in 2wd normally and 4wd up to 30km\h before it virabate like crazy. So now the question is will a 85 4wd transfercase and rear axle fit in the 89 4runner 4wd correctly. I understand that the solid front axle would to get to swap but that more then my budget will allow? Are they the same or is it different?

You need to figure out if the transfer case is top shift or forward shift on the 85.. Either way it can work, but you may need to add some parts - www.marlincrawler.com.
The rear axle (complete will fit) - I dunno off the top of my head if there is a width difference.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure the rear axle is about 2 inches wider starting in 86 with the IFS trucks. Search around on the net for proof cuz I'm not exactly sure why I think this. But I think thats why most of the SA conversion kits come with 1 inch wheel adapters. The 85 may fit anyways, I don't really know about that.
