The 5vzfe that could! (But won't)
Swap's done, and it runs great! but not for long...
Starts up no problem; revs great, but once it wants come to an idle it runs rich and just drops off.
Seems like it's not picking up the airflow sensor (cause it acts the same if it's unplugged) but i've got power and continuity to it.
Well whatever it is; it seems like and emergency shut down of sorts; so i'm sort of at a loss for where to start looking!
Any suggestions at all would be amazing! thanks in advance
As per usual, pics for advice!

plugs and pins don't mean anything , as long as it is matched to your harness .. for example
/99 Tacoma and /99 4runner computers are completely different , and one looks like the pic you posted , and the other looks like the other pic you posted .
I would assume this problem exists in your wiring

The problem is obviously wiring.
It's not about the pins or the plugs;
the problem is that the plugs i posted don't match up to the 98' 4Runner's plugs on the diagrams, that style of plug seems to be mostly found post 2000.
(The ECU pic's aren't of mine)

The second ECU picture is this:
http://www.toyotapartszone.com/oem/t...661-04450.html
Is there a five digit number stamped on each of those plugs you are holding? If so, what are they?
Is everything installed on the engine i.e. intake tube, O2 sensors, etc. before you are trying to run it?
What wiring did you do between the engine and ECU? What ECU is in it?

Do I have this correct .
Your trying to run the engine without the engine harness merged into the truck harness??
So you are unable to read the codes that poor engine is no doubt showing ??
That would point right to the problem area and tell you just what to check.
MAF sensors do go bad as well as ECM`s
You always have to source the fourth plug for the ECM because it is not on the engine harness.

This would be like plugging your computer into the wall and nothing else and wondering why nothing works. There is a keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc, that needs to complete the installation.
Same thing here..
Wiring everything up. Have you been through the 3.4 swap forum here at yotatech?

yeah i've since figured out that i'm just missing one of the ECU plugs, nothing else seems to be wrong. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow hopefully.
