I found a guy that has a complete blown 3.0, "its got bad rod bearings", a 5 speed trans, transfer case, new clutch and a set of headers asking $500 for all... Is that a decent price?? I really just want the headers but am thinking about buying it all now, though I dont know if I would ever use any of the parts... Let me know what you think!

uh yeah that's a good price...BUY IT!!!
keep the headers..part out the motor..or be a JA (JACK@$$) and sell it to somebody..sell the trans and t-case and you could easily come out ahead..
headers are around $600 i believe..

If the stuff will fit your truck, I would say go for it. It would git you the headers, give you a spare tranny, and if the motor is rebuildable then that gives you a back up plan some day if you need it

Yeah, the headers are a little rusty and have had the cross over pipe cut off with a sawzall, they would be usable though. My truck is an auto and Ive thought about swapping to a 5 speed but am really not sure that I want to go through all that work! The guy wants 200 for the exhaust parts, I think I may just buy them... I really dont think I would use the engine / trans, not any time soon! Im waiting for pictures of everything now... Though for 500 its tempting, he said his truck had a 4" lift on it before it was rolled, Im half afraid that the trans would be crap, the engine has had the HGaskets replaced before the rods started knocking...

sounds too pricey, at least down here in az. but if you want headers then i would buy it then resell the other stuff. just look for rust holes on the collector etc.
i will hit you up probably this year i am going to go up to the NCTC campus of the fish and wildlife services for a fish health training sometime in 2010

Im thinking about buying it all then re-selling what I dont use, though that could be a pain to haul it all back to WV from PA just to have to store and move it again... I wonder what all my 88 would need to swap the trans... I heard that some were drilled and only needed the brake pedal and clutch pedal installed that the pedal cluster was the same, I guess I need to take a look! Im going to go pick up at least the exhaust Saturday morning if he still has it so Ive got a couple days to make up my mind! Yeah Im about 10 miles from the NCTC center!!!
