RINGS. I know all about this one. My Jet Ski smoked, too. the #3 and #4 cylenders both had badly fouled plugs. I spent $49 on 4 spark plugs.....and they fouled up again! I say rings.

Yeah, if you tear them apart, it's an inline 4cylender...but that's probably where any similaritys end. The Jet Ski was made to run at 7000RPM for extended periods of time, and makes around 165 Horsepower off of 1.2 liters. The 22RE was made to run slowly, but for a LONG LONG LONG time!!!

Might leak down test it (checks the rings).
If it's really bad, it would probably show up as a difference in compression also.

compression has been done, leak down that is, as well as a straight up check. 160 across all four. the engine has JUST BEEN REBUILT, there's the pity in it. Ive got an anti fouler in we'll see how long that holds out.

Well. to fix the problem with the small miss that kept developing from # 3 fouling i put in an antifouler. It's been a good three fuel tanks lots of stop and go as well as high RPM off road usage for 2 hrs. I got it home and noticed a strong miss. Popped out number three, and you wouldn't believe it if i told you. A brand new NGK v-power plug worn through the ceramic clear down from the ground strap (which also managed to grow tumors on both sides) Soloutions? do i need to go to a cooler plug? I have Bosch Platinums that i will put in to hold me over.

I can't see the photo, but yikes...
Does it run funny before fouling - any chance of an open injector or too tight a rocker arm...
Oil control ring installed upside down?

never thought of the oil ring being upside down, i didn't know you could do that. I had it rebuilt by some pro machinists tho, so i doubt it but it's not impossible. It doesn't miss once it's warmed up. So it runs great and is hella powerfull.

no one with any ideas? what happened to all the motorheads round these parts? I remember getting everything from the dumbest advice to the greatest professional help. Looks like we are all too busy watching you tube vids.
