Agreed, on the immaculate part. I respect the fact that they took care of it better than most, but not show grade. And not a price I'd be willing to spend.
I tend to watch for rust and evidence of collisions. I look at the hood/fender alignment, door gaps, the way the grille and clearance lights align with hood and fender, etc. I can deal with a grenaded engine, but bad body work and/or frame damage is a just a nightmare. And virtually impossible to remedy on your own.

Nice truck, not too far off from immaculate due to minor details - no rear seat hinge covers or seatbelt mount covers, rear faded carpet, ,gray door handle cups, b-pillar badges, who knows what’s under the dash carpet, and no engine photos. I think the 200k mileage could be a psychological barrier for a lot of potential buyers but the one family ownership and unmolested condition are advantages. I think if the seller is willing to negotiate, $16k9 is not a bad place to start but I’d address those foibles.

notice the gap is uneven between the front bumper and the grille? also interesting that the front seat fabric is not the same as the rear seats, and that the rear seat fabric matches the door card and rear passenger area fabric. the passenger door lock is missing the plastic trim surround at the base, too.

fwiw, i like the rear seat fabric/door card fabric, and it's the same type as in my #1 '87. another plus (to me) is the manual windows and vent windows, while i am less of a fan of the auto hubs. the tailgate carpeting is thicker than oem, can't tell whether the original fasteners are still there.

That's a beauty, the undercoating on the frame I don't like,, I can see the rusty spots in several pics, like it was applied in a hurry for pictures. Rest of it looks really nice, I even like the trd rims. At 13k seems like a good buy, I'm sure it will go much higher though.

I'll be surprised if it doesn't bring something in the high 20s or even the 30s.

i’ll take the under on that!
while i think there’s not much to worry about with respect to the grubby underside, any visible rust seems to scare buyers. On the other hand, it does have a soft top which most we see here do not have, and aftermarket rims do not seem to be as popular as stock, so i’m going to guess $18,500.

I was wrong...$25,750!
it must have been the color and the soft top.

that certainly helped, along with quality photos and good engagement/transparency from the seller in the comments.

That being said...no way is that a 25k example in my opinion. There’s just too much “wrong” with it as mentioned in some of the comments. One of the things that really bugs me is that this is a power package truck and though he replaced the door cards with decent ones, manual windows on an otherwise fully optioned, power package truck was not the right way to go.

Is it OK to say... I told ya so!
the video he showed along with all the receipts.
89 V6 Manual... top dollar
although I agree it's not going to bring what an emaculate, unrestored one will bring.

it came close enough. ridiculous pricing. rust in the rear quarters, very non-original as far as parts, panels, doors, interior. fools spending stupid money. in this case, just a 33 year old used car.

the good news is... this is good for those of us that own 1st gen 4 runners. Hagerty predicted these getting very collectable and they are. The down side is that parts are getting stupid expensive as well as others restore their 4runners to cash in.

i don't see it as good news, unless you are trying to sell yours. i'm not selling either of my '87s, although i might sell my '88 parts rig for stupid money.

The last proper restoration I saw was done here a few years back by @Charles4x4 and he ended up keeping that one for himself. He probably had at least 25k in that one and probably wouldn’t have seen that returned at auction. The ones that pop up these days seem to be lipstick on a pig being flipped for remarkable money. I hope the person that bought this last one realizes what they just spent 25k on.
