I'm amazed. Chris and I have been watching these auctions. The trucks are beautiful, but I am amazed at the prices with higher mileage engines that are "freshened" up without a complete rebuild. Have they really become collectibles?
Chris' 4r has a fresh rebuild with new clutch and all accessories redone. Transmission seals redone. ZERO leaks. Suspension completely redone. The paint is weathered but is a solid zero rust desert truck with no accidents and very minor door dings. Straight. I suggested he carefully remove the weathered graphics, very gently block the car and put a satin clear on it to highlight the body's soundness. Interior is perfect. An SR5 with air and all the goodies. He could pay off his college loans.
This is crazy stuff.

Clean body! But that red interior is too red.

Well, considering it has the beloved options of "slap some por15 and undercoating on the frame, and a paint job that looks just good enough for photos" that people with more money than car knowledge so adore, i would say 20k plus. A person could almost make a full time big money business out of slapping cheap paint jobs and undercoating on old toyotas and putting em up for sale on that site..hmmm now that's an idea.
i think right around $19k

A very blue 4runner that would benefit from minor work and detailing.

I see a lot of these 4runners with saggy rear springs. That seems like such an easy thing to fix before putting it up for auction. But maybe the sag makes it look more stock/ unmodified?

Those springs are a bit saggy, but not as saggy as they look. The front and rear wheel well openings are not level with each other. The front wheel openings are higher up than the rear, thus making the rear look more saggy than they really are.

yeah, i’m kind of surprised the seller let it go. The mileage may have been too high and there was a question about Carfax that may have cooled bidders.
